We are always looking for coaches to give Japanese players the opportunity.
> The opportunity for players to have the 1-3 month long tryout, having Japanese players join your team practice with other team members.
Model case for baseball and softball
> Hideki starts to practice with other 40 players from the beginning of 2006 Fall semester to the end of the semester(usually December or late November. Whenever the team's official fall practice ends)
> Coach can cut the Japanese player in the end of the semester if he is not good enough to make a team for 2007 season
> Japanese player will be a full time student and take ESL class at your college.
As you might have already been aware, there are many talented players in Japan, and many of them quit the sports simply because there are not many opportunities.
There are only about 360 teams in college while there are more than 3000 high school teams.
A lot of players here are playing baseball/softball almost 6-7 days/week all year around, which means their fundamentals are very solid and their baseball/softball IQ are high enough for high school players.
Plus, it's always too early to tell the potential of players. Please remember even Hideo Nomo, who is one of the greatest Japanese players as you know, did not play college baseball.
